William F. ‘Bud’ Jackson, age 74, a proud Vietnam Veteran of the United States Navy, passed away Saturday, October 5, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.
Bud had a long career at Alcoa Aluminum plant and retired in 2007. Bud’s priorities were God, Family and serving others. Bud’s greatest joy was his wife, kids and grandsons. He made it a priority to put their needs above his own. He and his family enjoyed camping, beach trips and spending time together, especially around the holidays. Bud worked hard at keeping a nice-looking lawn and producing a small garden for his neighbors, family and friends. He was fond of watching the birds eat from the birdhouses he installed. As an avid fan of Maryville High School football, he and his son Allen looked forward to attending home and away games each season. Since his retirement in 2007, he rarely missed a game! Bud and his daughter Tami, from the time she was 3 years old, loved to see who could scare who the most. Tami loved it when he would get off late and she could hide behind things in the dark and wait for him to get home. He loved hiding in doorways when he heard her coming. This tradition went on until about a year ago.
His passion was serving in the Helping Hands Ministry at Rio Revolution which provides new shoes and schools supplies to children in the community. He also served as a church greeter, welcoming members with a hug and smile. He wanted everyone to feel loved as they entered the House of God.
Preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Edna Jackson and brother-in-law, Monte Payne.
He is survived by his wife of almost 50 years Wilma Jo Jackson, Maryville, TN; son, Allen Jackson and wife Lindsey Jackson; grandson, Grant Monday; daughter, Tami Waters and grandson, Jackson Waters, who donned Bud with the name ‘Bose’ as a young toddler; sister, Linda Whitehead and husband Earl, Mike Jackson and fiancé, Reagan; also survived by several nieces and nephews and a large extended family.
