William Hugh Haney

William "Bill" Hugh Haney, of Maryville, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Blount County to the late Hugh and Mae Haney. He was married to the late Mary Catherine Stoutt Haney for 50 years. He has one daughter, Betty Wagner, of Maryville. Bill retired after 42 years as a mechanical maintenance supervisor at ALCOA Inc. He was a 1941 graduate of Maryville High School and a veteran of World War II. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the submarine SEAL in the South Pacific. He was a member of the Smokey Mountain Model T Club. He was an active member of Monte Vista Baptist Church. He enjoyed lunches with friends, restoring antique cars, attending church activities and spending time with family and friends. Preceded in death by wife, Mary Catherine Stoutt Haney; brother, John Paul Haney; sister, Jennie Flanagin; parents, Hugh and Mae Haney. Survived by daughter, Betty Wagner (Benny); grandchildren, Katie Elizabeth and Josh Philips of Maryville, Mark Wesley and Kalle Wagner of Ellensburg, WA; great-grandchildren, Mary Kate and Matthew Philips of Maryville; special and close friend, Doris Eaves, of Maryville.
