William Burl “Bill” Freed, age 78, a native of Homewood, PA, resided in East Tennessee since 2009 passed away Saturday, July 17, 2021. Born January 31, 1943, in Homewood. Bill was a Veteran of the United States Army and served in the Vietnam War. He worked in the still mills of Pennsylvania and worked for 25 years at the children’s home in Florida. His hobbies include piddling in the shed, shooting pool, collecting hot wheels, and building trains. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary E. Freed Albert; father, Sherman R. Freed; sister, Virginia Parker; brothers, John O. Freed, Delmar R. Freed, George O. Freed. Survived by the love of his life, best friend and wife, Sandra P. “Sandy” Freed; his adopted family, Frank Herald and wife, Rodnee Herald; 4 adopted grandchildren, Lashell Ross and fiancé, Justin Owens of Oak Ridge, TN, R.J. Gross and fiancé, Taylor Cole of Hillsboro, Ohio, Franklin Herald III, and Levi Herald of Maryville, Tennessee; adopted great-grandchildren, Riley Hawkins, Jayden Owens, Maddie Owens, and River Owens of Oak Ridge, TN; and several nieces and nephews.
