Willard Kirby Smith

June 11, 1925 — May 27, 2016

Willard Kirby Smith, age 90, of Maryville, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Blount Memorial Hospital. Kirby was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a Seabee and was a longtime member of Rockford Baptist Church who loved his church family, serving as deacon and enjoying their fellowship. He was a member of the Little River Railroad Museum in Townsend and enjoyed yard sales, trading and selling, and fishing the local waters. Kirby was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Smith; mother, Ova Smith; brother, Harold Edward Smith and his sisters, Selma Jean Phillips and Marie Storie. Survivors include his children and their spouses, Kerry and Tammy Smith of Townsend, Adam Smith of Alcoa, Jennifer and Glenn Bowers, Linda Smith and John Stout, and Kathy Williams all of Maryville. Grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Rachel Davila, Michael Smith, Justin, Caitlin, and Shawn Frost, and Hayden and Emma Smith. Great Grandchildren, Abigail Kriens, Juliette Davila, Kyle Smith, and Rayne Smith as well as many other family and friends. A Celebration of Kirby’s Life will be held at 6:00 pm,Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Rockford Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Small officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Rockford Baptist Church 4104 Old Knoxville Hwy, Rockford, TN 37853 or to your local Shriners chapter. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 6:00 p.m. at Rockford Baptist Church on Thursday, June 2, 2016.
