Willard M. Abbott

Willard M. Abbott, age 88 of Maryville, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014 at the family home. Born on September 6, 1925 in Cades Cove, TN, Willard was a longtime member of Broadway Baptist Church, and a Mason for 58 years. Mr. Abbott served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II and retired from ALCOA after 41 years of service. He was well-known as an avid horseman and carriage builder; however his greatest love was his wife and family. Preceded in death by: Sons, Larry Abbott and Brent Abbott. Survivors include: Wife of 68 years, Jean (Payne) Abbott; Children, Sandra Elder & husband Roger and Terry Buchanan & husband John; Grandchildren, Ashley Robertson, Matt Buchanan, John Elder, Sarah Chabot, Allison Buchanan, Angela Cottrell, Luke Buchanan; 8 Great-Grandchildren. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Smith West Chapel with Dr. Tony Collins and Rev. Carl White officiating. Family and friends will assemble for entombment at 1:00 PM, Friday, June 20, 2014 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel.
