Warren Sanford Thompson, age 92 of Maryville passed away on Sunday, December 11, 2022. Warren loved his Savior and his family, taking great care of everyone no matter what was needed. He was a proud and brave Korean War Veteran, yet humble about his personal accomplishments. Warren was born in Fountain City, Tennessee, to Wayne O. and Katherine A. (Webster) Thompson and was raised with his brothers and sister at the home. After his military service, Warren focused on raising his family and his life-long career with South Central Bell (BellSouth), Maryville, Tennessee, where he retired in 1991 with thirty-five years of service and perfect attendance. Warren had many friends and co-workers there, some of whom passed on before him. Warren also enjoyed family vacations at the beach, hiking with his friends and family, and listening to live country music at local venues with his wife, Bobbie. He also gave generously of his time to volunteer service, constantly mowing yards, fixing everything that was broken, or providing for others. Warren completely embraced God’s stewardship and fulfilled his role as a great caretaker. He is now resting high up on that mountain with his Heavenly Father. Warren was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne & Katherine (Webster) Thompson; brothers, Wayne W. Thompson, and Marvin R. Thompson; brother-in-law Fred Brown; “bonus” grandson, Ben Ward; and nephew Steve Thompson; as well as other beloved family members and friends. He is survived by his wife, Barbara A. “Bobbie” (Snyder) Thompson; daughters, Nancy (Thompson) Ward and husband Marty and Dena L. Thompson; grandchildren, Amanda (Brian) Wasinger, and their two children, Jude and London, Aaron (Jackie) Robbins and “bonus” granddaughter Lorra Caron. He is also survived by his sister Linda (Fred) Brown and sister-in-law Dimple (Wayne) Thompson and a host of wonderful nieces, nephews, and other family members. Family and friends will assemble for a graveside service on Friday, December 16th, 2022, at 8:30 AM at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E Governor John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN 37920.
