Virginia Smith Griffin, 92, passed peacefully on Saturday July 20, 2013 at Asbury Health Center in Maryville, TN. Born in Oklahoma City, she lived for more than 40 years in Grand Prairie, Texas where she worked for the City of Grand Prairie retiring in 1983. Along with her husband, N. H. "Griff" Griffin they were founding member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church in Grand Prairie. The consummate hostess you never left her house hungry or thirsty, she was a Girl Scout Leader, Room Mother, and dear friend to many. She is preceded in death by her husband and sweetheart of 62 years, N.H. Griffin as well as her siblings, Clemency Duncan, Jane Smith Walker & Fred Walker. Carrying on her legacy is her daughter & son-in-law, Doreen Kelly Griffin Savell & Steve Savell, both of Maryville, TN, Grandchildren, Pamela April Savell & Christopher Steven Griffin Savell, both of Chicago, Ill, Nieces Lora Lee Griffin Thornton, Audra Jo Griffin Turley, Lisa Gayle Smith, Elizabeth Newcomb Rogers and Great-Niece Faith Nicole Turley. As well as dear friends, Norma & Dave Thompson and Clyde & Verna Bargsley of Grand Prairie, Tx. Thank you so much to all the caring loving people who took care of her physical & emotional needs during these last months, you have blessed her days and ours as well. Memorial services will be officiated by Rev. Harry Howard on Thursday, July 25, 2013 at the chapel at Asbury Assisted Living in Maryville, TN @ 2:00 pm.
