Velma Marie Yates age 83 went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 12, 2014. She was a long time member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church. Velma was preceded in death by: Husband, Robert Yates; Son, Richard (Slick) Yates; Son-in-law, Mike Wade; Father, Robert Irwin; Mother, Mary Irwin; Brother, Wayne Irwin; Granddaughter, Christina Wade; Grandson, Jimmy Wade; Great-Grandsons, Hemi Yates & Billie Yates; Nephews, Robert (Bobbie) Irwin and Robbie Irwin. She leaves her Son & Daughter-in-law, Robert Stanley & Phyllis Yates; Daughter, Leanna Wade; Brother & Sister-in-law, Ernest & Helen Irwin; Sister-in-law, Wanda Irwin; Grandchildren, Judy & Clayton O'Neal, Jodi and Joe Barrett, Kelly & Phil Potter, Keith & April Wade, Marty Yates, Janet Farley & Eugene Johnson and Jimmy & Tara Yates; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-granddaughter. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM, Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Clifton Hearon and Clayton O'Neal officiating.
