Vedis O. Stephenson

Vedis Stephenson, age 86 of Townsend passed away Saturday, June 12, 2010 at the Sevier County Healthcare Center. She was a charter member of Townsend Church of God, and a long-term resident and well-known cook for several restaurants and environmental organizations in Townsend. She was preceded in death by her husband, Porter Stephenson. Survivors include: son and daughter-in-law, Donald Ray and Gwenda Stephenson of Rossville, GA; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Blevins of Townsend; grandchildren, Danny and Michelle Stephenson of Maryville, Jennifer and Jonathan Spence of Smyrna, TN, Matthew Duffey and Whitney Blevins both of Townsend; brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Faye Proctor of Maryville; sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Frank Peroulas of Knoxville; special friends, Helen Buchanan, Darlene Myers, Nell Lawson, and Flo Dockery. The funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Monday, June 14, 2010 at Townsend Church of God with the Rev. Jeff Dockery and Rev. Ronnie Hepperly officiating.
