Valerie Elaine Boring

Valerie Elaine Boring, age 67, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away at Wellstar Kennestone Hospital on Thursday, February 15th, with her son and daughter by her side. Valerie was born and raised in Maryville, Tennessee, and is a 1974 graduate of Friendsville High School. She lived in Bristol, Tennessee, for a short time before moving to Georgia in 1987. She has lived in Mableton, Douglasville, Rome, Acworth, and Marietta, Georgia. Her first job was at Levi Sewing Factory before she began working in retail, which she enjoyed until she retired in 2010. Employers included Giant Food Market, Rite Aid, Eckerd, Claire's, Bonworth, and managing Home Impressions and multiple Hallmark stores. Valerie was an avid jigsaw puzzle enthusiast and loved to read.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Florence Raines, of Maryville, Tennessee, as well as sister Francis Moss, and brothers Fred Raines, Clyde Raines, and Delmar Raines. Valerie is survived by her son, Patrick (Katlin) Boring of Dallas, Georgia, and daughter, Sarah (Matthew) Boring, of Marietta, Georgia. She is also survived by brothers Delbert Raines of Maryville, Tennessee, and Walt (Lisa) Raines of Jefferson City, Tennessee, as well as sisters Joyce Freeman, Gloria (Alvin) Peak, LaVerne Canant, and Brenda (Eddie) Moss, all of Maryville, Tennessee, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, February 22, 2024 at Smith West Chapel.  Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM with Pastor Delbert Raines and Rev.
