Rev. Ullin L. Bivens, born April 1, 1921 passed away Friday, November 21, 2014. He became a member of First Baptist Church, Maryville, during a revival on October 24, 1931. He was away from Maryville for 50 years serving seven Southern Baptist churches as minister of religious education returning to Maryville in September 2007. He attended Bassell Elementary School and was a graduate of Alcoa High School. He was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Louisville, Kentucky. He was in the Army Air Corps during World War II serving in England and France. He was preceded in death by his wife Stella Naomi Myers Bivens, father Walter B. Bivens, Sr., mother Bertha Culveyhouse Bivens, and brother Walter B. Bivens, Jr. Survivors include sister, Frances L. Bivens and several cousins. The family would like to thank the staff on the First Floor North at Blount Memorial Hospital for their excellent care. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard and Rev. Emerson Wiles officiating. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday, November 24, 2014 at Grandview Mausoleum Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Family Life Center at First Baptist Church, 202 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, TN 37801.
