Tilda Moraine Hatcher

Tilda Moraine Phillips Hatcher, age 85, resident of Asbury Place, Maryville passed away on September 19, 2019 at Asbury Place. Tilda was born on January 9, 1934 in Silver Point, Tenn. She was the daughter of Zach and Minda Phillips who preceded her in death. She was married for 64 years to Cecil Ray Hatcher.Tilda and Cecil attended East Side Church of Christ until their health prevented it. She a gentle and kind Christian woman who’s life and virtue was reflected in Proverbs 31. She loved to cook and was known baking for the family and others on special occasions or just if she knew that someone needed a satisfying sweet dish. Her excellent sewing skills produced clothes and quilts for the family. Tilda was beside her husband, Cecil as a fireman’s wife for over 45 years, working as a radio dispatcher or hanging own as they went to a fire call on their “off” days in the family car or driving through the county on Sunday afternoon to find new roads of where houses were being built. She loved traveling to see her family from Tennessee to Michigan as well as hosting them to come and visiting at her home. Spending time with her kids, grand kids and great-grandchildren was always a joy for her and them. Her sweet smile and kind words will be a lasting memory to all. She is survived by: Sons, Philip (Angela) Hatcher of Oakland, Tn, Mike Hatcher (Amy) of Maryville; 5 Grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Two brothers survive her, David Phillips and Donald Phillips of Michigan, and two sisters, Irene Dinkel of Michigan and Faye Beard of Kentucky. Other siblings that preceded her were: Wendell Phillips, Linnie Webb, Eva LaFever, Evelyn Martin, Charles Phillips, Mae Hancock, Clarence Phillips, Carson Phillips, Oscar Phillips. There will be receiving of friends at 1:30 pm and funeral service for Tilda on Sunday, September 22, 2019, at 2:30p.m., at the Smith’s Funeral Home with interment immediately following at Grandview Cemetery. The family world like to thank all the care partners for the loving, kind, and compassionate care their Mom, Grandma received while living at Asbury Place and Brightstar, and many individuals who have care for her over the past few years.
