Thomas Wayne Compton

Thomas Wayne Compton,  age 77 of Pigeon Forge, passed away Monday, December 26, 2022 at the family home.  Tom was born in the Alynwick community and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  Afterward he was ordained into the ministry and pastored several churches for 43 years.  Upon retiring he founded Parkway Mission of Hope in Pigeon Forge whose sole mission was “To Feed the Hungry!”. Tom stated “I just know there is a need”. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed by his family and friends.  Preceded in death by his parents, Claude Sr. and Neva Compton; daughter, Amy Jones; brother, Claude Compton Jr.; and sister, Betty Gilbert.  Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Joyce Compton; sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Christy Compton and Thomas Jr. and Carol Ann Compton; daughter and son-in-law, Leann and Brandon McCabe; son-in-law, Dale Jones;  grandchildren, and their spouses, Christopher Compton (Heather), Lindsey Compton (Ethan), Timothy Compton (Morgan), Noah Compton, Jared Compton, Connor McCabe, Tyler McCabe, Chelsea McCabe, Riley Jones, Kera Jones, Madison Jones, Olivia Jones, and Lem Jones; great-grandchildren, Braydan Compton, Bailey Compton, Emma Compton, Sterling Compton, Jackson Compton, and Leo Jones; sisters, Carol Long and Jane Russell; many nieces, nephews, and extended family.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 until 12:00 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2022 in the Smith Trinity chapel with a celebration of Tom’s life to follow at 12:00 pm.  The interment service and burial will follow at 1:00 pm at Grandview cemetery with Brandon McCabe, Christopher Compton, Jeremy Keeble, Michael Keeble, Josh Keeble, and Jimmy Long serving as pallbearers.
