Susan Leona Burger

Susan Leona Burger, age 87, of Athens, TN, died Saturday, December 20, 2008 at Athens Regional Hospital. She was a member of Eastside Church of Christ of Maryville, a quilter, a homemaker, and enjoyed being the "Checker Champion" at the Life Care Center of Athens. She was a loving Mother and Wife who enjoyed taking care of people. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest E. Burger, parents, Austin and Allie Masingale, and brothers and sisters, Gene Masingale, Jewell Masingale Vaughn, Cecil Masingale, Fleta Hembree, and Wayne Masingale; Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Darewin and Pat Burger of Englewood, TN; daughter, Joyce Ann McElroy of Maryville; grandchildren, Tina Autry, Dena Butler, Timothy Burger, Robert McElroy, and Bobby Burger; great grandchildren, Lindsey Autry, Katie Autry, Shelley Autry, Timmy Burger, Anthony Burger, Bonnie Butler, and Tara Butler; great-great grandchildren, Sofia McElroy and Isabella Scotto Di Carlo, brother and sisters, Shirley, Bobby, Juanita, and Johnnie; Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, December 22, 2008 in the Smith West Chapel with Minister Larry McCord officiating. The family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Sherwood Memory Gardens for the Entombment.
