Steve "Skippy" Scates

April 5, 1965 — May 21, 2014

Steve "Skippy" Scates, age 49, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 21, 2014, surrounded by those who loved him dearly. Steve worked at UPS with 30 years of service. Preceded in death by: Grandparents, Mary Clare and Louis Miller and Lela Mae and Richard Scates Sr. Survivors include: Wife, Jaime; Son, Zane; Mother & Stepfather, Gwenda & Rick Green of Maryville; Father, Richard Scates of Maryville; Mother & Father-in-law, Kathey & Doyle Smallen of Loudon; Brother & Sister-in-law, Brian & Nancy Scates of Maryville; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. A special thanks to the doctors and nurses of Cancer Treatment Centers of America for their constant hope and compassion during Steve's illness. Our love to Chad and Polly Evans for taking in our whole family and loving us unconditionally while caring for Steve during his final days. Celebration of Life will be at 6:00 PM, Friday, May 23, 2014 at Greenback First Presbyterian Church, 6790 Morganton Rd, Greenback, TN 37742, with Rev. David Bell officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 24, 2014 at Davis Cemetery in Loudon Co.
