Stephen Burkhardt

Stephen Burkhardt, age 68 of Maryville, formerly of Romeoville, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the family home. He was a loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather. Stephen had a great sarcastic sense of humor. He served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Burkhardt; stepfather, Bernard O'Neill, brother, Richard Burkhardt. Survivors include his wife, Ethel Stone Burkhardt; children, Louise Burkhardt, Rebecca Burkhardt Day, Aaron Burkhardt, Melissa Becker Rinaldi, Robert Becker; brother, Jim Burkhardt; stepsiblings, Dennis O'Neill, Thomas O'Neill, Patricia O'Neill; numerous grandchildren & great-grandchildren; mother, Anne Burkhardt O'Neill; mother-in-law, Mildred Masters Stone. The family will receive friends 3:30pm until 5:00pm Thursday, May 14, 2015 at Smith Trinity Chapel. Funeral service will follow at 5:00pm with Pastor Mark Kirk officiating.
