Stella Louise Shields

Stella Louise Shields age 83 of Maryville went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Asbury Place with her son by her side. She was a member of Everett Hills Baptist Church. Louise retired from Pearson Hall at Maryville College after 30 years of dedicated service, where former football players and staff referred to her as “Whezi�? and “Momma Shields�?. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Louise’s greatest enjoyment was the birth of her only granddaughter and watching her grow. She enjoyed family get togethers and watching folks eat her famous “Nanner Puddin.�? Preceded in death by: Parents, Samuel & Stella McConnell; Five Brothers, Robert, Fred, Jimmy, Lewis and Ray; Sister, Ruth Bourne. She leaves behind: Husband, James L. Shields after 55 years of marriage; Son, Roy Shields and Daughter-in-law Autumne Shields; Only Granddaughter, Audrey Shields; Brother, Keith McConnell; Sisters, Martha McCollum and Erma Sue Thorton; several nieces and nephews that she loved very much. Family will receive friends from 6:30 until 7:30 PM, Thursday, September 22, 2011 at Smith Trinity Chapel with funeral service to follow at 7:30 PM with Pastor Doug Tipton and Dempsey Walker officiating.
