Dr. Spencer Duncan Gregg, Sr., - 62 passed away on February 21,2025, at home, surrounded by his family. Dr. Gregg was of Christian faith and served faithfully in the Baptist church, teaching RAs and going on mission trips for many years. He was a graduate of Carson Newman University, Jefferson City; the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, College of Medicine, Memphis; and the University of Tennessee, Haslam College of Business, Knoxville. Dr. Gregg served as an Army medical officer during the end of Operation Just Cause in the Republic of Panama. He practiced medicine for 36 years, serving as a physician at the University of Tennessee Student Health Center for 25 years and as its director for 15 years. He was an enthusiastic Volunteer fan and loved everyone who worked with him at the University. When Dr. Gregg was not working, he enjoyed time with family on the lake or at home mowing the lawn.
He is survived by his loving family: parents, Rev. David E and Eva Gregg; brother, Kim Gregg; wife of 29 years, Kristi Jett Gregg; children, sons S. Duncan Gregg, Jr. of San Antonio, TX, and Samuel Gregg of Philadelphia, PA; daughter, Anne Allyse Gregg of Maryville and many cousins, nieces, and nephews. The Family would also like to include Samantha Tyler, a family friend, who has become like a daughter and helped in the care of Spencer. He is predeceased by his sister, Rebekah Hensley, and brother, Mark Gregg.
The family would like to give special thanks to the University of Tennessee Student Health Center team for their unwavering support during his tenure, especially during the past several years.
The Family will receive friends from 4:00 - 7:00 PM, on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at East Maryville Baptist Church. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 7 pm with Rev. Kelly Kinder officiating.
