It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Sonja Marie Rosalez on Monday, November 20, 2023. She was a beloved wife, mother, and oma to her family and friends. Born in Kulmbach, Germany on January 20, 1935 to Konrad and Katharina Greisinger, Sonja was one of the few who lived though the Second World War first hand. During that time, she was able to meet the love of her life, Benny Rosalez Jr., and made the remarkable decision to leave Germany and followed her heart to America. Benny and Sonja were married for 55 wonderful years, until his passing in 2011, creating a family with their 4 children, Hildred and Kenny Lewis, Michael and Alicia Rosalez, Benny and Kelly Rosalez and Monika and Tony Murrell. Her heart would grow even more to include 9 grandchildren, Aaron Idalski (Vicki), Joshua Rosalez (Kristin), Alexander Rosalez, Sean Rosalez (Hoa), Christina Bull (Jacob), Zachary Rosalez, Alisha Tanner (Joshua), Elizabeth Rosalez (Brian), Cydney Murrell; and 11 great-grandchildren. She loved her family and friends more than anything else and dedicated the majority of her life bringing all of her loved ones together to share joy and love with each other. Family will receive friends from 7:30 until 8:30 AM Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Smith West Chapel. The Funeral Service will be at 8:30 AM with Rev. Greg Long officiating. The Interment will follow at 9:00 AM at Grandview Cemetery. Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com
