Our Savior Jesus Christ has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel. Let us remember with thanksgiving what God has done through His servant, Sharon.
Sharon Jean Gaugert was given life by her creator and was born on July 31, 1948, the child of Robert Emil and Marcella Evangeline Gaugert.
On August 22, 1948, Sharon received the gift of Holy Baptism and became a child of God.
On July 15, 1962, she publicly confessed her faith and was confirmed and received the precious gift of the Lord’s life-giving body and blood.
On June 5, 1982, she received the gift of a beloved companion in her husband, Mark Yoder.
She was blessed with the gift of two beautiful daughters, Adelaide Danielle and Mackenzie Leigh.
God blessed Sharon’s life with many special people as she served Him in her various vocations at home, church, work, and in the community.
Born in Staples, Minnesota near her parents’ dairy farm, Sharon was the second of what would grow to be a family of five children. In a hurry to get started in her life, she wasted no time after graduating high school and went to work first in a factory in the Twin Cities, then managed a fast-food restaurant in New York and a lodge on Mt. Rainier. She worked as an airline reservation clerk in New York, was a travel agent in various places where she went on to live, and finally rounding out her vocation as a mail clerk in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. She retired 10 years ago and moved to Maryville, Tennessee with her husband of 42 years. She met and married Mark Yoder at their church in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1982 and the two of them tackled life together and raised a family of their own that was comprised of daughters Adelaide and Mackenzie. Sharon was a good mother and an unusually hard worker at anything she set out to do, which was even more impressive by the fact that she began life with a congenital heart defect from rheumatic fever. She endured subsequent surgeries and procedures to, thankfully, correct problems with her heart. You know her as a “people person” and she went out of her way to greet visitors in church and other venues. She has a sweet disposition and is so good natured that she became fast friends with just about anyone in her path. Sharon was a constant church goer and had a strong faith which was evidenced by her daily devotional life and her frequent partaking of the fellowship of the Lord’s Supper. Sharon is beloved by her family including Mark, Adelaide, Mackenzie, sisters Barbara Ann and Diana (whom she called Pixie), brothers Alan and Larry, and many others. She has a beautiful singing voice and was a good musician. She and Mark loved singing in the church choir together and rehearsing at home with her on the piano. She is sorely missed, but we are happy for her homecoming!
