Sarah W. Upton

Sarah Wright Upton, age 83 of Maryville, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Asbury Place Health Care Center. She was born on November 3, 1930 in Guntersville, AL the youngest of seven children. Sarah lived most of her adult life in Chattanooga, TN where she worked at Millers Department Store. After retiring, she and her husband moved to Maryville, TN to be closer to their daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of Broadway United Methodist Church. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Marcus Orin and Carrie McDonald Wright; her husband of 60 years, Gene Upton; brothers, Weldon, McDonald, Cleo, and Walter; sister, Louise Runyan. Survivors include her sister, Nell Coody; daughter and son-in-law, Kerry and Leon Trundle; grandchildren, Heather Trundle and Andrew Trundle; several nieces and nephews. The family of Sarah Upton wishes to express their gratitude to the nurses and staff at Asbury Place Health Care Center for the loving care provided during her time there. Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, 2014 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Laura Rasor officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00p.m. at Grandview Cemetery for the interment. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
