Sara Kantner Aungst

Sara Kantner Aungst, 84, of Alcoa, TN, passed away, Saturday, November 8 after a period of declining health. She was born January 19, 1930 in Pine Grove, PA to the late Helen and Edward Kantner. Sara graduated in 1954 from Kutztown College in Pennsylvania. She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ralph E. Aungst, Jr. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth (Liz) Gamble and her husband Larry of Peru, IN; Sallie Martin and husband William (Bill) of Taylorsville, NC, Jonathan (Jon) Aungst of Alcoa and James Aungst of Alcoa; Her 5 surviving grandchildren, Renee Jarrett, Greg Jarrett and wife Stacy of Indiana, Ryan Martin of Hickory, NC Colin Martin and wife Leah of Taylorsville, NC and Alexandra Belitz and husband Nick of Maryville; She also is survived by 5 great-grandchildren. Sara was the most loving and wonderful mother, always putting her family first. She was a long time and faithful member of Broadway United Methodist Church serving on many committees and singing in the choir. She loved cooking and playing bridge and she always had a smile on her face. A service of celebration and remembrance of her life will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Pastor Laura Rasor officiating.
