Pryor, Sam Chris age 84 of Maryville passed away Monday, July 31, 2006 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a lifetime member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church where he was a teacher and deacon. He retired from ALCOA after 44 years of service and was a member of their 25-Year Club. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy serving in World War II. He loved helping people. He loved his family and his church especially his grandchildren who were the light of his life. Preceded in death by: Wife of 59 years, Irene Pryor; Parents, James & Naomi Pryor; Sister, Pauline Coulter & husband Eugene, Brother-in-law, Joe McCammon; Sister-in-law, Reba Pryor; Brother-in-law, Bruce Proffitt & wife Betsy; Brothers-in-law, Gene Proffitt, Ralph Proffitt, Fred Proffitt, Tommy Cox, Woody Holloway, and Norman Spivey. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, Gene & Gladys Pryor of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; Daughter and Son-in-law, Beverly & Gary Orr of Maryville; Grandchildren, Michelle Mills & husband Mike of Coco Beach, FL and Chris & Lindsay Spiva of Maryville; Great-Grandchildren, Chris & Andrea Hunt and Hunter Mills; Brothers and Sisters-in-law, Earl & Estelle Pryor, Jack & Mayme Pryor, Darrell & Jean Pryor; Sisters, Eunice McCammon; Sisters-in-law, Helen Proffitt, Thelma Proffitt, Wilma Holloway, Helen Wilkerson & husband Glen, LaVera Spivey. He will be missed by two special friends: Eddie Pryor and Edith Starbuck. Special thanks to Dr. Wally Werner, Dr. Gibbs and his wife and all the staff at 4 North at Blount Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be at 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 3, 2006 in the Trinity Chapel of Smith Mortuary with Rev. Joe Nickell officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 10:00 AM, Friday, August 4, 2006 at Cedar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery for the interment. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 PM, Thursday, August 3, 2006, Trinity Chapel, Smith Mortuary, Maryville, 865-983-1000.
