Sammy Lee Samples

Sammy Lee (S.L.) Samples age 74 of Maryville went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2011. He attended Unity Baptist Church and was a former councilman at Alcoa Maryville Church of God. He was a veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was the Owner of Blount Appliance Service for 25 years and an avid bicyclist. Preceded in death by his parents, Ezekial and Martha Samples; first wife and mother of his children, Clara Ruth Samples; sister, Carrie Lou Samples. Survivors include his wife, Betty Samples; children and spouses, Becky and David Kirkland, Janet and Chris Borden, and David and Lana Samples; step children and spouses, Larry Ledbetter, Dwayne and Jean Ledbetter, Jeff and Kim Ledbetter, and Tammy and Steve Sands; grandchildren, Katie and Austin Kirkland, and many other step grandchildren and great grandchildren; brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Elsie Samples, and many friends. Funeral Service will be at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, May 28, 2011 in the Smith Chapel with Rev. Barry Crowson and Rev. Fred Cook officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 29, 2011 at Vonore Baptist Church Cemetery for the Interment. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Saturday at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 983-1000.
