Sammie Marion Adams

Sammie Marion Adams, age 90, passed away Friday, January 10, 2020. He was born to Sam & Mabel Adams (deceased) of Townsend, TN on September 2, 1929 where he was raised and graduated from Townsend High School in 1947. Sammie was drafted during the Korean War in 1950 and served in the military for 13 years. He left behind his loving wife of 46 years, Dinh Thi Adams (Phat) of Townsend. He was the father of three children, David Adams (deceased), Deborah Ellis (Pete) of Roy, Washington and Darryl Adams (Teressa) of Tacoma, Washington. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, Adam, Peter, Kyle, Sandra, Sammie and David, and several great-grandchildren. Sammie and his wife raised and loved their very special niece, Mitna Ngo, from age three who resides in Knoxville, TN. Sammie worked for Alcoa for ten years. The rest of his career he worked in several different states, Vietnam for seven years, and Saudi Arabia for eleven years. He retired in 1989 from Fluor Daniel Service Corp. Sammie was of Baptist faith and attended Hillcrest Baptist Church for the past 25 years. He loved going to church, trout fishing, hiking in the mountains, and gardening. He always said, “Keep God first and you will always succeed.” He had no enemies, loved the Lord, his neighbors, and his friends. The family will receive friends at Smith’s Trinity Chapel on Monday, January 13, 2020 from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM with funeral service to follow at 6:00 PM officiated by Rev. Charles Murrell. Family and friends will assemble at Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery 132 Bethel Church Rd, Townsend, TN 37882 on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 11:00 AM for the interment service.
