Ruth Marie Sunday

Ruth Marie Sunday, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at the age of 98. Born on March 1, 1926, in Walland, Tennessee, Ruth's life was a testament to her faith in Christ, the beauty she saw in the world, and the love she shared with her family and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Francis (Skeeter) Edmond Sunday Jr., her parents, Judge Staley and Margaret Loveday, her brothers Ralph, Earl, Wade, Gene, and Junior Loveday, her sisters Pearl Formway, Hazel Waters, and Addis Martin, and her granddaughter, Rebecca Lynn Sunday. She is survived by her sons, Eddie Sunday and Timothy (Linda) Sunday Sr., her grandchildren, Timothy Sunday Jr. and Sarah, her sister, Reba Veenstra, and many cherished nieces and nephews. Ruth's passion for painting was evident in the beautiful scenes and murals she created, often featuring the rolling blue mountains and fields of Tennessee that she called home. She and her husband Skeeter shared many joyful years combining their talents; he would craft woodworking pieces, and she would use them as a canvas for her paintings. Their home, which they built together, was a gallery of their shared artistry and love. A lover of nature, Ruth found great joy in gardening and working with flowers, cultivating beauty both indoors and out. Her gardens were a sanctuary of color and life, a reflection of her nurturing spirit. A devoted Christian, Ruth's faith played a significant role in her life. She loved her church families and cherished attending worship every Sunday, where she found peace and community. We take hope in knowing that she has been made fully whole as she rests with her Savior. As a dedicated and beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Ruth's life was rich with love and devotion. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew her, a lasting tribute to a woman who brought so much beauty into the world. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Macular Degeneration Fund in Ruth's memory. Rest in peace, Ruth Marie Sunday. Your love, faith, and beauty will forever be remembered. Family and friends will assemble at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Grandview Cemetery for a graveside service officiated by Greg Long.
