Ruth Loraine McManus

Ruth Loraine (Muir) McManus went to be with our Lord and Savior on January 7, 2015, surrounded by loved ones in her home. Ruth was born in Indianapolis, IN, on September 27, 1948. She graduated from Speedway High School and continued to receive her Master's degree in Speech and Hearing Therapy from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. She completed her E.D.S. from Lincoln Memorial University in 1996. Ruth was married to Harry Robert McManus on July 10, 1971. She began her career as a Speech and Hearing Therapist in 1970. She stayed at home raising her eight children for many years until she moved to Seymour, TN in 1991, and was a Speech Pathologist for Sevierville Primary School until she retired in 2009. Ruth was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a humble servant of the Lord, devoting her life to Christ. She faithfully fulfilled His word and brought others to know Christ, leaving a legacy of followers. Ruth is survived by her spouse, Harry Robert (Rob) McManus; eight children: Denise (McManus) Maples, Adam McManus (Rachel McManus), Susanna King (Patrick King), Anita Treadway (Richard Treadway, Jr.), Rachel Johnston (Jeff Johnston), Robin Keen (Jeff Keen), Tyler McManus, and Christian McManus, and fourteen grandchildren; as well as her siblings, James R. Muir (Karen Muir), Donald W. Muir (Gail Muir), Janet Muir Lowe (Garry Lowe) and nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Helen Muir. Visitation will be held at Smith Funeral Home in Maryville, TN at 1:00 p.m on Sunday, January 11, followed by the memorial service at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the service at Grandview Cemetery.
