Ruth Elizabeth Boshers Downey

Ruth Elizabeth Boshers Downey, born December 28, 1925 in Mt. Pleasant, TN, of Maryville passed away on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a longtime member of Maryville Church of Christ and she taught children’s Bible School for over 50 years. Preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Ina Boshers; sister, Edith Carpenter; brother, Morris Boshers. Survivors include her husband of 65 years, Joe Downey; daughters, Brenda Downey Dean and husband Jerry, Nancy Downey; grandchildren, Debbie Dean Malone (Kevin) of Brentwood, TN, Emily Dean Hammond (Paul) of Nashville, TN, Megan Dean Tomlinson (Kyle) of Brentwood, TN, Claire Newhouse of New York, NY and Caroline Newhouse of New York, NY and their father, Richard Newhouse; great grandchildren, Greyson and Maddox Malone; Ellie, Cooper, Cole, and Tess Hammond, and Will Tomlinson. Graveside service and entombment will be at 12:00 noon Monday, August 15, 2011 Grandview Mausoleum Chapel with Minister Jonathan Jones officiating. Friends may call at their convenience after 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Maryville Church of Christ with a Celebration of Life service at 7:00p.m. at the church.
