Roy C. Sparks

Roy C. Sparks age 91 of Maryville passed away Monday, March 9, 2009 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was born in Blount County on November 8, 1917. He owned Fort Craig Gulf for 15 years and was a member of Blount Christian. Roy retired from Bush Contractors. Preceded in death by: Wife of 61 years, Charlotte Potter Sparks; Daughter, Elizabeth Sue; Brothers, George (Dutch) Sparks, William (Tige) Sparks, and Dewey Sparks; Sisters, Margie Chapman, Louise Abbott, Maybelle Craig, and Mary Palmer. Survivors include: Son, Charles Sparks Jr. & wife Marsha; Grandchildren, Brian & Lori Ann, Charles Thomas & Sharon, Tricia Carpenter & Scott; 12 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild; Brother, Lester Sparks; nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Smith East Chapel with Rev. Barry Clampton and Brian Sparks officiating. Interment will be at 11:00 AM, Friday, March 13, 2009 at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 12, 2009 at Smith East Chapel.
