On January 19, 2022, Roy M. Sims went to his final home to join his loved ones in Heaven. He was employed with Archer Air Conditioning in Knoxville for 30 years. Roy’s hobbies included playing music, hunting, fishing, dirt bike riding, classic car collecting, just to name a few. His hobbies changed however after he suffered a fall in the 90’s. He still enjoyed his guitar, playing Gospel music and testifying about God. One thing that never changed was the ability to bring laughter by sharing stories, quotes and cutting up with his witty character. He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lorene Sims; grandson, Brently Mancini. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janice Gredig Sims; children, Sam (Butch) Sims of Maryville, Lynn Covert (Tim) of Michigan, Sonya McMichael (Donnie) of Georgia, Belinda Clayton of Maryville; grandchildren, Clinton Sims, Amanda Nelsen, Amy Henderson, Christy Mayo, Caleb, Travis, and Ryan McMichael, Steven Mancini, Joshua, Daniel, and Johnathen (Johno) Clayton; he was blessed with 15 great-grandchildren; a host of cousins, extended family, and friends. We would like to extend thanks to his caretakers from Right at Home and Allegheny Missionary Baptist Church family with special thanks to the loving staff of Morningview Village Memory Care Unit. Your patience, kindness and care for him in his final days was so deeply appreciated from his family.
