Roger D. Rule

October 10, 1919 — May 2, 2015

Roger D. Rule age 95 of Alcoa, TN passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015 in a Knoxville private nursing home. He was a member of Broadway Baptist Church for 66 years. After serving in The Pacific on a PT boat in the Navy during World War II, he returned to work at Alcoa Aluminum Company until he retired in 1981. He was a machinist at the West and North Plants. Preceded in death by: Wife, Betty Tulloch Rule; Parents, Marion Robert and Marinda Keeble Rule; Brothers, Stuart Rule, Jim Rule, Fred Rule, Vic Rule, Bob Rule, and George Rule; Sisters, Lennis Monroe and Inez Proctor. Roger was the last surviving member of Marion Rule's children. As a Union soldier released from a confederate prison in Cahaba, Alabama, his grandfather Caleb Rule survived the Sultana disaster of April 27, 1865 mere days after the end of the Civil War. The beginning of many more Rules to come. Survivors include: Son & Daughter-in-law, R. Clark & Peggy Rule of Gastonia, NC; Daughter & Son-in-law, Vickie & Larry Moore of Greeneville and Alcoa, TN; Grandchildren, Kim Rule Roberts, Roger Rule, Kristi Moore Woods, Scott Moore, Chad Moore, Kevin Moore; Great-Grandchildren, Michael, Grayson and Ryan Roberts, Victoria & Taylor Rule, Chris, Caleb & Taylor Moore, Clay & Dalton Woods, Chris Cassady, Brianna Moore, Ethan, Elizabeth & Erin Moore, Liam Rule; Great-Granddaughter, Mackenzie Moore; Sister-in-law, Carolyn Willis of Maryville. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Larry Moore and Rev. Tony Collins officiating. Family and friends will assemble for interment at 3:00 PM, Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Grandview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Grandsons and Great-Grandsons, Roger Rule, Scott Moore, Kevin Moore, Heath Woods, Michael Roberts, Clay Woods, and Grayson Robert. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Chad Moore, Caleb Moore, Chris Moore, Chris Cassady, and Ryan Roberts.
