Roger Lane McGee, age 51 died February 17, 2022. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Derle and Carol McGee and many others who loved him and whom he loved, they surrounded him with welcoming arms and love that Thursday morning. Survived by his wife Christa of 25 years; their two sons, Greysen and Presten; sister: Angie Platt (husband, Skip), brother: Bobby McGee, sister: Ellen Patteson (husband,Trent); mother-in-law, Marsha. Roger was born on February 6, 1971 in Raleigh, NC and grew up in McGee Crossroads area where the 'McGee Strong' legacy lives on. Roger had a passion for living! He had a passion for our Lord Jesus Christ and His church. His last written words were "The church should not live in fear during this time of Covid but should live in the Victory of Jesus!". He was a member of Monte Vista Baptist Church for over 20 years where he served as a Deacon as well as Chair of Stewardship. His faith was strong in the Lord and served Him with excellence, reverence and humility. He had a passion for his family, friends and people in general. He loved children and had a childlike teasing nature that made you laugh and definitely made him laugh. He had a passion for leading people to their fullest potential and pushing them towards a better tomorrow. He was a fierce businessman and awesome provider; he never approached anything with reservation or fear. He loved everyone and had a welcoming compassion about him that made you want to be around him. His generosity of his resources and especially his time was rooted by his love for Christ and his big heart. He served as an Assistant Scout Master in Troop 81 at First United Methodist Church where Greysen and Presten both became Eagle Scouts. He loved his time in the troop and loved watching all the boys grow and mature into men but he especially loved spending that time with his own two boys and just being there for them. He was a blessing to this world and anyone who knew him was better for it because he had a way of impacting all those around him. Roger worked but really mentored at Peoples Home Equity as Branch Manager. The people he served there were like family and he gave his all to them and for them. He hosted a Saturday morning radio mortgage show "Mortgage Matters" for many years. He opened the Casual Pint of Sevierville just over 5 years ago and the people there became like family as well. He used this outlet and many others to evangelize for Christ and contributed to several coming to know the Lord. He loved seeing people connecting there and was always excited to tell how those connections happened. He wanted everyone to know he loves them dearly and is so proud of each and everyone of you! His life was well lived, with passion, perseverance, character, integrity and hope! He will be missed by literally thousands.
