Roberta Willbanks Walker age 86 of Maryville passed away Saturday, May 11, 2013 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Claude Gardner. She was a charter member of the Maryville Church of Christ where she remained active until her death. Roberta graduated from Maryville High School in 1944, Freed Hardeman Jr. College in 1946 and Fort Sanders School of Nursing in 1949, where she received her RN Degree. She and Charles A Walker were married in 1949. Charles and Roberta owned and operated Eagleton Hardware until 1989 when they retired. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Myers and Tommie Willbanks; her beloved husband of 55 years, Charles A Walker; daughter, Eleanor Ann Walker; grandson, Ronnie Gardner and sister, Eleanor Willbanks. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jan and Claude Gardner of Maryville; son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Bob and Beth Walker of Decatur, AL; son of her heart and daughter-in-law, Herb and Ruth Peck of Huntersville, NC and dear friend and neighbor, David King. She leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren as well as many cousins and friends. Extended family; Linda Roberson and Kerma Bowman of Maryville, and Elaine Kennedy of Sherman, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the World English Institute c/o Maryville Church of Christ, PO Box 5293, Maryville, TN 37802 or Foothills Land Conservancy, 373 Ellis Avenue, Maryville, TN 37804. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 17, 2013 at Smith Funeral & Cremation Service with a Celebration of her life following at 8:00 p.m. with Ministers Herb Byrd, Sr. and Jonathan Jones, II officiating. Interment will be on Saturday, May 18, at 10:00 a.m. at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Family and friends will meet at Smith's at 9:30 or meet the family at Sherwood for the Interment.
