Robert Litton Skidmore, age 87, of Maryville and Seymour, passed away Saturday morning December 15, 2012. He and his wife Joyce were happily married for almost 62 years. Bob was a long time member and deacon of Madison Avenue Baptist Church of Maryville and a veteran of WWII serving from 1942 – 1945 in the U.S. Navy aboard the U.S.S. DIPHDA, and Attack Cargo Ship as a radio operator. Bob taught wood-working and mechanical drawing at Everett and Heritage High Schools and remained an active wood-worker, gardener, and church supporter. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Mary Skidmore; brother and sister-in-law, Jack and Nan Skidmore; brothers-in-law, Delmar Tolliver and Herman Jones, all of Harlan, KY. Survivors include his wife, Joyce Skidmore of Seymour; daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Tyler Freeman of Whitwell, TN and Teresa and Eddie Luttrell of Seymour; grandchildren, Mindy F. and husband, Scott Williford of Chattanooga, TN, and Chelsea and Cody Luttrell of Seymour; one special great-grandson, Parker Litton Luttrell of Seymour, who shares his middle name; one aunt, Virginia Jones of Harlan, KY; sisters, Polly Skidmore of Harlan, KY, Fern Skidmore of Harlan, KY, and Sue Tolliver of Lexington, KY; nephews, Jim Skidmore and Steve Tolliver; nieces, Candy Johnson and Judy Tolliver; sister-in-law, Bonnie Murphy of Seymour, and Billie Sue Hood of Maryville. The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the entire staff of Blount Memorial Hospital for all of their kindness and care. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Smith Chapel with Rev. Glen Cummings officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 in Atchley's Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Seymour, TN.
