Robert D. Porter, Sr.

Robert Daniel Porter Sr. age 75, of Maryville quietly went to be with the Lord on April 16, 2008. His wife Dixie and daughter Robin were with him. Born in McAlester, OK, he was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1992 in Walnut Creek, CA where he lived with his wife for 25 years. He moved to Maryville from Maryland on the retirement of his wife in 2004. He was predeceased by his father and mother, James & Maude Porter; sister, Pauline Whaley; and a son, Dr. Robert D. Porter Jr. He is survived by wife, Dixie; daughter, Robin D. Porter; granddaughter, Audrey L. Porter; daughter-in-law, Dr. Debra A. Porter; brothers, James A. Porter and wife Blanche, J. Michael Porter and wife Patricia; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie & Chester Jordan, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, April 19, 2008 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. J. W. Hopper officiating.
