Robert Douglass Mestach, age 55 of Vonore, lost his courageous 12 year battle with brain cancer at his home on Tuesday, Oct, 2, 2012. Born on February 3, 1957 in Detroit, Michigan, Bob lived nearly 20 years in California, and was eventually transferred by Eldon Office Products to Maryville in 1993. He was employed for 22 years by Newell/Rubbermaid as a materials manager. Bob was very active in his church, Oakland United Methodist, had a great sense of humor, and was always quick to help out anyone in need. Bob was a loving father, devoted husband, and was a true friend to all who knew him. Bob enjoyed boating, traveling, and spending time on the lake with his family, friends, and neighbors. Preceded in death by: father, Robert C. Mestach; mother, Joan Douglass. Bob is survived by Brenda, his wife of 25 years; son, Adam; and sister, Barbara Schultz. Funeral service will be at 2:00 PM, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Steve Yeaney officiating. Family and friends will assemble for graveside service at 4:30 PM, Friday, October 5, 2012 at Oakland United Methodist Church Cemetery in Greenback. Following the graveside service, the family will gather in the church fellowship hall in celebration of Bob's life.
