Robert Walter Hirche

Robert "Bob" Hirche, Sr. 84, passed through this world to his heavenly Father on Thursday October 3rd, 2013. He graduated from Brookyn Prep High School (Jesuit), and was a graduate in 1950 of the US Merchant Marine Academy, Kings Point. After serving in the Korean War as Engineer Officer aboard the USS Lake Champlain, he returned home to his loving bride Alice. He spent his entire career with Westinghouse in various management capacities. Bob & Alice had 3 wonderful children, Robert Jr., Hillary and Justin (deceased). Bob also chose to continue his education after returning from the War, receiving his MBA from New York University. Bob was an avid golfer and one of his great thrills was a hole in one. He was an active life member of the IEEE, and the Knights of Columbus #3832, Our Lady of Fatima. Bob is survived by his loving wife Alice, son, Bob Jr. and his wife Susan, daughter Hillary, his loving and devoted sister Marjorie, his two wonderful grandsons Everett and Frederick II, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be at Our Lady of Fatima at 11am Saturday, October 5th. A greeting of friends will take place at Smith Funeral Home from 5-7 pm on Friday, October 4th. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery following the funeral mass.
