Robert Donald Carroll

Robert Donald Carroll, age 80 of Maryville, TN, passed away October 14th, 2013 surrounded by his family after a brief illness. Robert cherished husband and devoted to his children and grandchildren will always be remembered for his sense of humor, positive attitude, and keen intellect. Robert was an avid sports fan, accomplished gardener, and always up for a game. Robert was born in Los Angeles, CA at The California Hospital to the late Helen Messer and William A. Carroll on November 15th, 1932. Robert was raised in Los Angeles, CA receiving his Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering in 1955 from UCLA. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy. Robert also served in various leadership positions of increasing responsibility with Alcoa for 30 years, and as President of Metal Resources of Loudoun, TN for 6 years. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years Marjorie Alice Carroll; daughter Linda French and husband James French of Maryville, TN. and their son Jim French and his wife Stephanie French of Knoxville, TN.; daughter Karen Callahan and husband John Callahan of Springfield, VA., and their daughters Tori and Lizzie; son Thomas Carroll of Smyrna, GA; cousins Richard Mugg Jr. and wife Phyllis of Manassas, VA.; William Mugg and wife Ellen of Cornelius, N.C.; Phillip Messer and wife Patricia of Boulder City, NV.; and Armand Messer and wife Paula of Yucaipa, CA., as well as, many additional special second cousins.
