Robert Jackson Breazeale, age 86, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away peacefully on May 24, 2021 at Asbury Place Assisted Living in Maryville. Born in Lenoir City, Tennessee on May11, 1935 to Stonewall Jackson and Leota Arva Breazeale. Robert graduated from Lenoir City High School and the University of Tennessee. He served his country in the United States Army in Okinawa, Japan during the Korean conflict and was honorably discharged. Robert was a certified public accountant and started his career with national accounting firm, Ernst & Ernst. After a number of years there he left to start his own accounting practice which he retired from in 2012. He was a long-time member and faithful attender of First Baptist Church Knoxville where he met his wife Martha. He was active in Sunday school as well as numerous church leadership positions. He also contributed actively to his community as a member of Downtown Knoxville Rotary Club chairing multiple committees. Especially dear to him was his involvement in the Rotary Scholarship program. Robert enjoyed his work but also enjoyed UT Football, UT Basketball, Knoxville Symphony, and the opera stateside and abroad. Robert is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Wear Breazeale; sons, Jake (Beth) Breazeale of Knoxville, TN and Peter (Amanda) Breazeale of Beaufort, SC; grandchildren, Jackson, Letty, Amelia and Eva; sister, Ila Rea Mincy; brother, Charles Breazeale; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brothers, William Mack Breazeale and Joe Ed Breazeale. The family would like to extend a sincere thanks to all the staff at Asbury Place Alpine Cottage for the exceptional care and compassion they showed to Bob. The family will assemble for graveside service at 10:40 am on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church in Townsend, TN. A celebration of life led by Dr. David Hull and Dr. Brent McDougal will be held on Tuesday, June 1, 2021 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with a receiving of friends immediately following.
