Robert "Bob" Eugene Newman

Robert “Bob” Eugene Newman, 85, of Maryville, TN passed away on Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023.

Robert, the oldest of 13 children, was born to Vaughn and Bessie Newman on July 5, 1937 in Knoxville, TN. He met his wife, Laverne Howard, in 1955 at White Stores in Knoxville where they both worked. They married on November 24, 1956 and moved to Oak Ridge where their children, Karen and Michael, were born. The family moved to Maryville in 1974 where they joined Monte Vista Baptist Church. After 30 years, Robert retired from Frito Lay.

Robert was known and loved for his good natured spirit and humor.  He was quick to laugh and enjoyed spending time with his family, camping friends and Sunday School class.   

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Laverne Newman; his daughter, Karen Newman Gibson; his son, Michael Eugene Newman; his grandchildren, Tiffany Gibson Cox (Taylor), Angela Newman, Michael Newman (Minnie), Samuel Newman; and his 2 great-grandsons, Robert and Owen Cox. He is dearly missed. Family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Smith Trinity Chapel.
