Richard Eugene "Gene" Carroll

Richard Eugene “Gene” Carroll, age 77 of Maryville, passed away August 08, 2024. He was a veteran and retired from Alcoa Aluminum Plant after 30+ years of service due to complications from Parkinson’s disease. Gene was born to Clifford E. Jr. and Edith Carroll in Blount County January 11, 1947 and graduated from Everett High School in 1965. He enjoyed fishing and riding motorcycles with his deceased brother-in-law, Woody. He loved driving his 2007 convertible Mustang GT California series. Gene is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy “Gayle” Campbell Carroll; daughter, Cindy Brooks; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Rachael Garner; and grandchildren, Caden, Taryn, E.J., and Malakai “Mikey”; brothers and sisters-in-law, Don Carroll, Bob and Valorie Carroll, and Ed and Kelly Carroll; one niece, several nephews and other family also survive. Gene was a kind-hearted and thoughtful man who will be greatly missed and remembered fondly by all those who knew him. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 in the Smith Trinity Chapel. The services will follow at 2:00 PM with Rev. George Macht and Donald Campbell officiating. Family and friends will gather at East Maryville Baptist following the service for the committal and burial.
