Richard (Rick) L. Bomaster age 76 of Alcoa, passed away Sunday, October 22, 2023 at The University of Tennessee Medical Center.  He was born in Stambaugh, MI on December 3, 1946.  Rick attended Iron River High School and graduated in 1965.  He attended Medical Lab and X-Ray Tech School in 1966 in Minneapolis.  He volunteered in 1967 for the United States Army where he received a Purple Heart, Bronze Star (V Valor), and Sharpshooter Award. In 1968 he went to Officer Candidate School.  In 1969, he went to Vietnam.  Rick was wounded 45 days later and spent two weeks in Japan recovering from his wounds. Then, he was transferred to Valley Forge Pennsylvania Hospital where he spent six months.  He attended LPN School in Escanaba, MI in 1972.  Rick married Martha Wynn in Stambaugh in 1971. Rick graduated from Bob Jones University School of Applied Studies in 1987.  He was a Baptist Preacher ordained in Florida in 1988.  Rick and Martha worked at Orlando Service Men’s Center from 1989 to 1992 leading sailors to the Lord.  From 1989 to 1991 he was Assistant Pastor at Lighthouse Baptist Church in Winter Park, FL.  From 1991 to 2001 Rick was Assistant Pastor at Bible Baptist Church in Crosby, MN.  He was a life member to Disabled American Veterans and VFW.  Preceded in death by:  Mother, Doris Martha Lorraine Bomaster; Father, Lloyd R. Bomaster; Brother, Brian Bomaster; Sister, Sherry Erickson; Brother-in-law, George Erickson. Survivors include:  Wife of 52 years, Martha Bomaster; Son, Morgan Carroll; Sister, Barbara Moore; several nieces and nephews.  Family and friends will assemble for graveside service and interment at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Pastor Don Woody of Midway Baptist Church officiating.  Smith Funeral & Cremation Service, Maryville, 865-983-1000, www.SmithFuneralandCremation.com.
