Rebekah Ann Buckley Howard

Rebekah Ann Buckley Howard, born March 4, 1931 in Pineville, KY, passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Asbury Place Nursing Home. She was a 1948 graduate of Bearden High School and a 1951 graduate of East Tennessee Baptist Hospital Nursing School. Rebekah was a Registered Nurse at East Tennessee Baptist Hospital, Knoxville, TN, University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville, VA, University of Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, TX and also at the office of her husband, Cecil B. Howard, MD, Pediatrician, in Maryville. She was a member of First Christian Church, Maryville where she served as a Sunday School teacher, Missionary Committee Chairwoman, VBS Teacher, and a member of the choir. She received a plaque from First Christian Church May 5, 2014 for many years of dedication and faithful service to the body of Christ at First Christian Church. Preceded in death by her parents, Lewis Whiting Buckley and Elizabeth Coleman Buckley; brothers, Coleman Buckley(Naomi) and William Buckley. Survivors include her husband, Cecil B. Howard; son, Mark B. Howard (Brenda), daughters, Sally Howard Truxal (Bill), Maggie Howard Ray (Terry); granddaughters, Ashley Howard Rojas (Manuel), Rachel Howard King (Ben), Holly Howard Shaw, Micalah Ray, Elly Truxal, Abby Truxal, Emma Ray, and Jade Howard; grandson, Byron Ray; great granddaughters, Cecily and Evelyn Rojas; great grandson, Marcus Rojas; sisters-in-law, Nilla Buckley and Jane Howard; many nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at First Christian Church in Maryville with service to follow at 7:00 p.m. with Gary Henline officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Grandview Cemetery for the interment.
