Ray James Simpson

Ray James Simpson was born December 8, 1915 in McMinn County, TN and passed away on November 29, 2012, at the age of 96. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company with 39 years of service. He was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa. Ray was preceded in death by daughter, Paula Simpson Lowe, daughter-in-law, Terry Shamblin Simspon, and grand-daughter Sydney Simpson. Ray is survived by wife, Clearie Simpson, daughter, Sheila Simpson McKay, Alcoa, son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Peggy Simpson of Knoxville, grandchildren Chris Arnold, Atalie McKay, Noah McKay, Lindsey Calverley, Cherie Jump, Lori Moreland, Clint and Matthew Lowe, and eleven great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at Smith's Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Monday, at Smith West Chapel with funeral service immediately following, Rev. Danny Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Clark's Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 309, Alcoa, TN 37701.
