Ray James Simpson

Ray James Simpson was born December 8, 1915 in McMinn County, TN and passed away on November 29, 2012, at the age of 96. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy for nine years. He was retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company with 39 years of service. He was a life long member of Calvary Baptist Church, Alcoa. Ray was preceded in death by daughter, Paula Simpson Lowe, daughter-in-law, Terry Shamblin Simspon, and grand-daughter Sydney Simpson. Ray is survived by wife, Clearie Simpson, daughter, Sheila Simpson McKay, Alcoa, son and daughter-in-law, Danny and Peggy Simpson of Knoxville, grandchildren Chris Arnold, Atalie McKay, Noah McKay, Lindsey Calverley, Cherie Jump, Lori Moreland, Clint and Matthew Lowe, and eleven great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends at Smith's Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Monday, at Smith West Chapel with funeral service immediately following, Rev. Danny Davis officiating.
