Ray Martin Sauls

September 21, 1921 — August 23, 2014

Ray Martin Sauls, age 92, passed away on August 23, 2014 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Frances Sauls. He was a dedicated husband and was devoted to his wife. Mr. Sauls leaves behind four children; Homer Sauls and wife Jean, Janice McClanahan and husband Larry, Kathy Coulter and husband David, and Barbara Carver and husband John. He was a beloved father and friend to each of them. He also had 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren that he loved dearly. Mr. Sauls was employed at Alcoa for over 47 years and enjoyed his friends and co-workers there. He was a strong man, very witty, courageous and loved more than anything just to be at home with his wife Frances. He loved gardening, antiquing, and cars. He was a member of Cold Springs Baptist Church. The family wishes to thank Dr. James Milhollin and Dr. Robert Pollock for their care over the past months and years. Also to the staff at the Blount Memorial Transitional Center for the care and support they gave him. He loved being there. The care and support the MICU on the 4th floor Blount Memorial Hospital and the Palliative staff was a blessing during his stay at Blount Memorial Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 in the Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Jeff Hickman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Grandview Mausoleum.
