Ray Henry Hairell

RAY HENRY HAIRELL, 89, a native Houstonian, died October 9, 2016 in Maryville, TN. Born in Donna, Texas, he was preceded by his wife Barbara and his parents, Efford and Addie (Tip and Sis) Hairell. He is survived by his son Keith and his wife Gail, his two grandsons Jonathan and Ryan and his wife Michelle Hairell and his great-grandchild Paisley Quinn of Maryville, Tennessee. Ray was a Navy veteran having served on the U.S.S. New York, BB-34, and on Guam during World War II. He was a Little League coach, having managed the Rangers and the Giants. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 852 and oversaw numerous young men receive their Eagle Scout Award. He became a District Commissioner for the Sam Houston Area Council. He retired from Accufleet where he was an FAA Certified Burn Lab Technician. He was a member of the American Legion of Texas. He had been a resident of Maryville, Tennessee since 2011, near the Great Smoky Mountains. Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:30 pm on Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Woodlawn Funeral Home, 1101 Antoine Dr. Houston, TX 77055. The funeral will begin at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at St. Thomas’ Episcopal Church, 4900 Jackwood St, Houston TX 77096. Interment to follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories.
