Randy James Flynn was born on January 24, 2011 and was called to his heavenly home on September 6, 2024. He lived in Maryville, Tennessee, in a community where he was surrounded by loving neighbors and friends.
Randy lived more in his 13 years than many do in a lifetime. He earned his advanced scuba certification and dove in quarries, at Crystal River, and at reefs in Grand Cayman, Cozumel, and Roatan. He learned to rock climb, rig top ropes, and lead climb/belay, and enjoyed using his skills at several crags in the southeast including the famous Red River Gorge. He flew drones with his brother and with a world champion drone pilot. He had two 3D printers and designed his own builds, most recently a stand for a drone launch pad. He enjoyed family camping and backpacking trips, as long as he didn’t have to hike more than 2 miles. He was a master influencer of his parents, whom he convinced to build a “fort” that allowed him to climb out of his bedroom window and sneak out of the house, and also allowed friends to sneak into his room. He loved spending time with friends jumping on the trampoline and jumping into the pool. He jumped into everything with both feet and his whole heart. The only thing he loved more than his hobbies were his cats, who loved him back even when he insisted on holding them on his lap so he could avoid chores or homework.
Randy was preceded in death by his best furry friend Turkey, and by close family friend Brennan. Survivors include his parents, Jennifer Brigati and David Flynn; brother, Kory Flynn; grandparents, Kenneth and Dorothea Brigati and Randall and Diane Flynn; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 15th at the Smithview Pavilion. The family will receive friends beginning at 3 pm and a service will follow at 4 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Triple Tree Aerodome https://tta.aero/donate2/ or Carolina Climbers Coalition https://carolinaclimbers.org/civicrm/contribute/transact...
