Ralph Cate

Ralph Cate, age 87 of Maryville, joined his savior in heaven Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Blount Memorial Hospital. He was a member of Fairview United Methodist Church, the Sparkplug Sunday School Class, Thursday Morning Men’s Prayer Group, and the Alcoa 25 Year Club. He was also a Navy pilot veteran of World War II. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Abbie Cate; brothers, Lee Roy Cate and Elbert Cate. Survivors include: his wife Joyce; step-son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Tammy Huskey of Buna, TX; step-daughter and son-in-law, Sabrina and Jim Underwood of Birdsboro, PA; four granddaughters; two great grandchildren; brothers, Hoyt Cate of Athens, TN and Delbert Cate of Riceville, TN; sister, Dorothy Cooper of Chattanooga, TN; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be at 6:30 p.m, Tuesday, January 12, 2010 at Fairview United Methodist Church with Dr. Jerry Russell and Rev. Priscilla Bryan officiating. Family and friends will assemble at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at Grandview Cemetery for the entombment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Fairview United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2508 Old Niles Ferry Road, Maryville, TN 37803.
