Paul R. Paulson, age 73 of Maryville, and originally of Merrillville, Indiana, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018. He was of the Catholic faith and a true friend and family man. He loved riding Harley Davidson Motorcycles and spending time in the outdoors, trout fishing, hunting and shooting, and playing golf. He was an avid softball fan attending every game that he could for his granddaughter, Avery. He was a Tech Sergeant and jet aircraft crew chief in the U.S. Air Force, working on the F105 Thunderchief during the Vietnam War. He served 19 years as a Quality Assurance Specialist for the Department of Defense, and spent 39 years in total in the service of his country. He was a true Veteran, Patriot, and Papaw who will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Preceded in death by: his Parents, Paul and Martha Paulson; Brother-in-law, Richard Kloker; Mother-in-law, Wilma B. O’Neal; and Dog, Bubba. Survived by: Wife, Jean O. Paulson; Daughter and Son-in-law, Jenny O. and Scot Smith; Granddaughter, Avery Smith; Sisters and Brother-in-law, Maureen and Jim Smith and Sheila Kloker; and Special Pet, Black Labrador Retriever, Romeo. Family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 19, 2018 in the West Chapel. Funeral service will be at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Grandview Cemetery.
