Technical Sergeant Paul Dongwoo Kim, 31, passed away at his home in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee on Friday May 6th, 2016. He is survived by his father, Seung Il Kim and mother, Miri Kim. He will be remembered by several friends and military acquaintances who mourn his passing. He was born in Busan, South Korea on November 23rd, 1984. Paul was granted his United States Citizenship on April 17th, 2008. He attended the University of Tennessee Knoxville from 2005 through 2010 where he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Geography. Paul enlisted in the United States Air Force on November 16th, 2006 as a member of the Tennessee Air National Guard. He attended Basic Military Training and Technical Training at Lackland Air Force Base, Texas graduating on August 30th, 2007. He served nine years with distinction as an Airman volunteering to deploy on three separate occasions in support of Operation Enduring Freedom to include; Manas Air Base, Kyrgyzstan, Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar, and Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan. His service and dedication will stand as a testament to the love and devotion he had for his country and his military family and friends. A receiving of friends is scheduled for Monday May 16th, 2016 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm with a Memorial Service to follow. This will take place at Smith Funeral and Cremation Service located at 1402 Tuckaleechee Pike Maryville, Tennessee 37803. A graveside service will be held the following day, Tuesday May 17th, 2016, at 11:30 am at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery located at 2200 E Governor John Sevier Highway 168 Knoxville, Tennessee 37920.
